The COVID-19 Rages on: How did Nigerian Banks’ Stock React?

This study was carried out to examine how stocks of Nigerian deposit money banks (DMBs) reacted the covid-19 pandemic from two perspectives: prices and volume traded on Stock Exchange. The effect DMBs stock examined three methodical areas: general effect, predictive response shock. Panel data prices, all 15 listed monthly February, 2020 August, 2021 were analyzed with panel least square (PLS)s, vector autoregressive (PVAR) impulse function (IRF). These analytical methods used statistics, namely, number confirmed positive cases, deaths due discharged patients affected DMB’s for period under study. Results PLS revealed that while positively banks, it negatively their PVAR results none statistics exert long run price during period, but significantly had affect traded. Both responded swiftly shock cases mildly fatalities patients. We conclude that, overall, recommend both NSE develop management strategies invest more technology driven trading facilities will reduce conventional brick-and-mortar lockdowns.
